Africa’s largest Tech & Telecoms conference was held in Cape Town in November 2019, and Global Crypto was an official media partner. At the conference, we caught up with key blockchain and tech influencers about what they foresee in the industry.
In our first interview in the series, we have Ray Youseff, founder and CEO of Paxful. Paxful is a Bitcoin wallet that combines the facility of a marketplace. With partnerships in dozens of countries and officially with exchange giant Binance, they have grown to over 2 million users!
Ray is a native New Yorker, who has been there since he was two years old. Born in Egypt, Ray’s family moved out to the city that never sleeps in pursuit of the “American Dream”. Watching his father closely, he learnt the “art of the hustle”, and stepped into the world of entrepreneurship himself. He partnered with developers on early smartphone internet access in the late nineties and then founded a hugely successful ringtones marketplace in the early 2000’s.
After a number of startup successes, exits and failures, he founded Paxful in 2015 with a software dev friend, seeing the huge potential in Bitcoin. Paxful has since grown to become one of the leading Bitcoin wallets and marketplaces in the world.
In this insightful interview, James explores what excites Ray most about the Paxful product, and what is to come in their unique crypto ecosystem.
