Robinhood recorded $17.5 billion in crypto notional trading volume in August 2026, marking a strong monthly rebound as activity on its platform and Bitstamp increased. The figure represents a 61% increase from July’s $10.9 billion, highlighting renewed trading activity across Robinhood’s crypto ecosystem.
The August crypto trading volume included $7.4 billion from the Robinhood app and $10.1 billion from Bitstamp. Robinhood app crypto volume climbed 72% from July, while Bitstamp volume increased 53% over the same period. The combined results show that both parts of Robinhood’s crypto business contributed to the monthly surge.
Robinhood Crypto Volume Jumps 61% in August
Robinhood’s $17.5 billion crypto trading volume translates to an average daily crypto trading volume of about $565 million during August. The Robinhood app generated an average of $239 million per day, while Bitstamp contributed approximately $326 million in daily crypto volume.
The increase comes as Robinhood continues expanding its position across digital assets and broader financial markets. The company ended August with 28.6 million funded customers, an increase of roughly 120,000 from July and about 1.9 million higher than a year earlier. Total platform assets also climbed to $384 billion, up 8% month over month and 26% year over year.
Bitstamp Drives a Major Share of Crypto Activity
Bitstamp accounted for $10.1 billion of Robinhood’s August crypto trading volume, making it the larger contributor to the company’s combined crypto activity. The exchange’s monthly volume increased 53% from $6.6 billion in July, while its average daily volume reached $326 million.
Robinhood’s own app generated $7.4 billion in crypto trading volume, up from $4.3 billion in July. Although the monthly increase signals stronger trading activity, both Robinhood and Bitstamp remained below their August 2025 levels, with combined crypto volume down 38% year over year.
Robinhood Expands Beyond Traditional Crypto Trading
The latest figures arrive as Robinhood continues building a broader financial platform that includes cryptocurrency, equities, options and prediction markets. In August, Robinhood reported $335 billion in equity notional trading volume and 293 million options contracts traded, while event contracts reached 4.7 billion.
Robinhood’s growing crypto activity also comes alongside its broader push into prediction markets. The company recently announced partnerships involving Crypto.com and OG.com as it expands its presence in event based trading.
The August data therefore points to a significant short term recovery in Robinhood crypto trading activity. With crypto volume rising 61% month over month and the company continuing to expand its financial products, Robinhood remains an increasingly important retail gateway for cryptocurrency trading.
