On a recent visit to Jo’burg, I had the opportunity to sit down with Eugéne Etsebeth, who is one of the thought leaders of digital assets on the African continent. Having done some incredible work at the South African Reserve Bank, and operating in fintech throughout the many years of his career, he has some unique insights into the possibilities of cryptocurrency adoption and the regulatory environment.

His perspective on the subject is a unique and refreshing one for someone with experience at a central bank, and this interview is enlightening and thought-provoking. As someone interested in banking and economics, the book “The Sovereign Individual: Mastering The Transition Into The Digital Age” had a profound impact on him, and the insights he is able to provide from the book’s now 20 year old philosophy are remarkable and deeply intriguing. I’ve certainly put it on my reading list!

For someone with so much experience in the industry and high level influence, Eugéne is a humble man with a passion to see society bettered through the implementation of blockchain technology. This interview was a real treat, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
