World, the technology project operated by Tools for Humanity and cofounded by Sam Altman, has launched World Money, a self custodial financial app designed to bring stablecoin payments, digital asset trading, rewards and global transfers into one platform. The rollout began on September 17, 2026, across more than 150 countries, although available features and eligibility differ by jurisdiction.

The new World Money app expands World’s existing digital asset ecosystem beyond identity verification and wallet functionality. Users can hold balances in U.S. dollar and other local currency stablecoins, send and receive supported digital assets internationally, track portfolios, monitor transactions and set price alerts from a single self custodial interface.

World describes the product as a financial “super app for humans,” connecting everyday money management with cryptocurrency and stablecoin infrastructure. The company says users can get paid, hold digital assets, earn rewards, invest, spend and transfer funds globally without switching between multiple financial applications.

World Money Brings Stablecoins and Trading Together

A central feature of World Money is its stablecoin-based financial system. The app supports balances across eight currencies, allowing users in supported markets to hold digital representations of U.S. dollars and local currencies. Users can also send supported assets to other people through their World usernames, creating a simplified method for cross border digital payments.

The platform also combines crypto trading and investing with its payment functionality. Its Trade section allows users to buy and sell digital assets through integrated exchanges, while supported assets include Worldcoin (WLD), wrapped Ether (WETH), wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) and other tokens. The available asset list can change over time and depends on jurisdiction.

World Money also incorporates an Earn feature powered by Morpho, allowing eligible users in selected countries to deposit supported assets such as WLD, USDC, WETH and WBTC into onchain lending programs. The app displays applicable annual percentage yields before deposits, while rewards and rates can change depending on market and protocol conditions.

World ID adds another layer to the ecosystem. Existing World users can carry their verification and credentials into World Money, while World says verified users can receive promotional rewards boosts on eligible Earn programs. The company positions its proof of human infrastructure as a way to connect financial activity with verified human users.

Stripe, Bridge and Global Payments Expand the App

World Money is also building connections between traditional payments and cryptocurrency. In the United States, Stripe powers a new funding flow that allows users to convert money from Apple Pay into supported stablecoins, with World saying funds typically reach the wallet within minutes.

The platform also uses virtual account infrastructure from Bridge in supported markets. These accounts can allow users to receive funds that convert into stablecoins, while different providers and regional rules determine how the service works in each country. World says virtual account availability and other financial features depend on local eligibility requirements.

The launch comes as stablecoins continue moving beyond cryptocurrency trading into payments, remittances and digital financial services. By combining stablecoin balances, transfers, trading, yield products and third party financial Mini Apps, World Money is positioning itself as a broader digital finance platform rather than simply another crypto wallet.

However, World Money is not a bank, and its digital assets do not represent insured bank deposits. World states that stablecoins and other digital assets in the app are not insured by the FDIC, a deposit guarantee scheme or another government agency, while Earn and investment products carry risks including potential loss of principal.

World Money’s rollout therefore marks a significant expansion of the World ecosystem, linking stablecoins, World ID, self custody, crypto trading, DeFi rewards and global payments under one financial application. With availability spanning more than 150 countries, the next phase will depend on how quickly individual features expand across jurisdictions and how users adopt the platform for everyday financial activity.
